Prato ’88
Concrete and iron, 35x83x13 cm
Mauro Staccioli Archive Museum, Volterra
Invited in 1988 to design an external and visible sign for the new Luigi Pecci Museum in Prato, Staccioli, after careful research on the form to give to his intervention, thought of a concrete arch which, due to its strong link with architecture and its institutional role, would indicate the place of contemporary art in Prato for twenty years. The form is intensely researched by the sculptor during the study phases (survey, sketches, photographic surveys, photomontages, maquettes) up to the definition of the most suitable sign in relation to the environment, most capable of playing the role of a tangible sign in the daily path between museum and city.
