Scultura-Intervento, 1974
Wood, cardboard, concrete and paint, 14,2x70x52,5 cm
Mauro Staccioli Archive Museum, Volterra
In the small square next to the Libreria Einaudi, in Milan, which at the time held an open-air exhibition of works by avant-garde sculptors, Mauro Staccioli intervened in 1974 by creating a huge cubic structure with four rostrums placed on each side. The rostrums had already appeared the previous year in an intervention realized first in Parma for Piazza della Steccata and then in Piazza Solferino in Turin. The sense of his intervention is to let the sculpture, characterized so expressively in an aggressive sense, impose itself upon the surrounding space, urging busy passers-by to a moment of reflection.
