Mauro Staccioli Archive Museum, Volterra
The invitation to Parma comes for Staccioli as a natural consequence of his personal exhibition in Volterra. Indeed, invitations to participate in public art initiatives, born from the need (on the part of both artists and the community) for art to leave galleries and museums and ‘occupy’ the city, are increasingly numerous. Staccioli, who finds in the Emilian city an opportunity to reflect on its history, both ancient and current, intervenes here with a series of enormous “wheels”, large concrete millstones with two long and sharp steel rostrums at their center: an invasion of military vehicles, circular shapes that are charged with a sense of aggression and instability.
