Scultura-Intervento, 1974
Wood, cardboard, concrete and paint, 34,5×69,5×50 cm
Mauro Staccioli Archive Museum, Volterra
Mauro Staccioli’s work soon identifies itself by his ability to read and perceive spaces, which is increasingly decisive for interpreting his sculptural interventions correctly. In Verbania, in 1974, Staccioli took part in the ‘Scultorincontro. Verbania ’74”, creating a large triangle built in bricks and concrete and aggressively characterized by a sharp blade protruding towards the church of San Leonardo in Verbania. The work admirably exploits the slight inclination of the ground to make the sculpture gain momentum and, indeed, almost extend itself beyond it. In fact, the work maintains a very close dialogue with that space, being created directly on the spot.
