Stollo di San Zeno, 2007
Corten steel, 18.000×60 cm
Parco Le Mura, Porta San Zeno – Pisa
Mauro Staccioli’s work Stollo di San Zeno was installed for the exhibition Luoghi d’Incontro in 2007. The tall, sharp pole pointed toward the sky recalls his early sculpture-interventions of the 1970s made for the city of Volterra. The title evokes the haystacks, a characteristic element of rural landscapes now lost. This reference by the artist warns us of the ongoing change in the landscape and the prevailing urbanization and is meant to be a stimulus to the viewer to consciously reclaim his or her own place of living.
