For the contest announced in 2004, “Fountains for Monferrato”, Mauro Staccioli presents a circular spot barely raised from street level. Here a triangular section stele in the centre, from which water will gush out, is set. The artist also plans the insertion of some “constructed” stones at the bottom of the water basin that will blend together with the natural stones; those stones carry the echo of the Prismoids often used by the artist and are imagined in different colours: here the chosen interlocutor is the child, placed at the focus of the artist’s reflection as a user of the park. The sculpture is thus once again conceived as an element of solicitation of the individual imagination, but this time it dialogues with the children, encouraging them to play and compare shapes and colours.
